Singapore: Durian Puffs?

Of course, BrancoBlogger couldn't go to Singapore without trying durians. Well, he could but he wasn't allowed to! Unfortunately, many visitors from the West have been giving this 'treat' a miss due to their objection to this luscious fruit's rather pungent aroma.

Durians are known in Singapore as the King of Fruit and I suspect local bakeries have been inspired to concoct a host of delectable cakes and pastries that should make sampling durians just a tad easier on sensitive noses. And indeed it transpired that Shanti's friend Eddie turned up one afternoon with said box of these such high quality chilled 'puffs'.

Well, who am I to say that they smell - just note that Singapore's train system - the MRT doesn't allow them on board, indeed you suffer a massive $5000 fine if you get caught - on par with 'flammable goods'!

A big thanks to our friends in Singapore and the UK. In Singapore to all those who made us feel so welcome. Too many to mention but I'll give it a go anyway:

Shanti and Ama. Pat, Rachel, David, the Logans, Manicka,
Shanti's school colleagues - KC, Fong Leng, Gerrard, Lela, Muilan, Mini, Eddie (aka curry puff man), Wan & Farizah. Not forgetting, Alex, Joe, Eugene, Joan, Michelle & Mala.

In the UK, to Rick, Susan, Linzi & Stuart for looking after our house and cat Megan. Thanks so much.

Before I forget there are some photos of Singapore under the LINKS title at the top right of the blog page.

Oh, yes and those durian puffs - well I'll not be returning in a rush for them:-))
